Stop only focusing on the ยซย whatย ยป, and start focusing on the ยซย whoย ยป.

No, there is no risk doing this. Your speech should always be tailored to a specific audience. Otherwise you are loosing your time and your target audience’s time.

The ยซย mistakeย ยป I often see with CEOs is that they mostly focus on what they are going to say and not enough on analysing their audience.

Unfortunately, people will forget A LOT of what you tell them but they will never forget how you made them feel.

A little game for you:

Try remembering someone specific you met a few years ago, what do you remember?

You will most probably remember how you felt during that meeting and not the details of the conversation.

You want to go far? You want to convince no matter what?

1. Take the time to breathe at the same rate as your audience.
2. Keep an open-minded approach.
3. Spend time understanding the needs of your audience, their objectives & challenges.
4. During the meeting, listen to what is said and not what you think is being said.
5. Always consider listening more than you speak.
